Happy New Year 2025.

How was your Christmas?

Did you have a nice Christmas and New Year?

I decided to make some new traditions this year ~ transitions just for me (cos That’s what you do when your family is grown + you have to wait for your hubby to come home from work) …I went down to the beach for an early morning walk.

It was delightful! Already at 7am, people were out in the water, or gathering around picnic tables, their tables already heavy with food. The water was delightful too, 21 degrees, the ocean baths was just right, refreshing after a long walk. It was actually hard to get out.

But I had packed a thermos and some morning tea and found the one beach chair in the shade and sat reading, soaking up the sounds around me.

And then I noticed some music and movement next to me… a small group of people (of all ages + stages) were dancing! Dancing on the sand and into the water, kicking the water up as they moved to the music. It was delightful, they danced as if they were at a club, many lost in their own world, so carefree.

The music was not loud by any means but the beautiful dancers caught the attention of many beach goers. One young child yelled out “Can I join you?” And they waved him over smiling, welcoming him happily. He called to his friends and family “I’m going over to dance, come dance with me” This started many more children and some adults to join in the fun too.

Honestly, it was amazing to see. I’m smiling now just thinking about it.

And I was so pleased that I made the decision to go to the beach, how could I be alone, surrounded by so many.

It is definitely a tradition that I will continue next Christmas and maybe, probably, definatley, I will join in with the dancing.

Here's to a happy 2025,

Kindly,

Melissa
