September News + Discount

Hello,

How are you? It is spring time, can you believe it? The beginning of the year was going at such a nice steady pace but now, whoa, the weeks and months are moving quickly.

I have been enjoying the past few months, our new family rhythms and routines are starting to settle down, and everyone is finally adjusting to all the changes. There has been some big changes too over the past few months, with my eldest moving out of home and my youngest getting his licence. For the first time in many, many years I have found that I am no longer needed. So I guess you can say that I am empty nesting... and the emotions that are coming along with that, well I guess you can say that there a lot of emotions!

All I can say is thank goodness for crochet and my two businesses. They have been keeping my mind and fingers occupied.

My husband has also been very helpful in distracting me by organising some early week getaways (for the first time in many, many years we are now able to skip the weekend travel and travel through the week, wow what a new revelation !!) We have kept relatively close to home (except as we followed some of the Silo Art Trail out to Barraba, a 5 1/2 hour drive from ours.) I have decided to document some of our travels so that I can have a digital memory of what we are up to... if you are keen to follow along head over to my coffee website www.willowcoffeeco.com.au

where I am starting to blog about the travels we get up too. Here are a few snaps of the little town of Barraba. I love finding little shops that just entice you in with their glorious shop fronts. The last shot being of our campsite right on the river.

When ever we have gone away previously I have always felt the responsibilities of my life, worrying about my mum and the kids....now however (unfortanetley) I no longer have anyone to worry about. It is bitter sweet, but for the first time I am enjoying traveling and exploring like we used to when we were in our early 20s. However it could be due to my age but I am so much more adventurous than I was way back then (I have always being a quiet introvert) So adventurous that hubby is trying to convince me that purchasing a roof top tent for our car would be a good idea. And I'm even considering it ! (Heaven knows how I'm going to go getting up and down the ladder!)

We hiked up and down cliffs and through the bush. But last of all was to my favourite place in the world... can you see the water peaking through there in the last photo? makes my heart swell just looking at this photo.

But back to the crochet side of things... one of my goals this year was to design and set up some crochet kits and patterns to be available in my little shop. It has taken a little while, but I have some new kits ready for purchasing. The first is a granny square key ring kit which is a suitable make for beginners. I picture this being a good holiday kit or gift, it will not take for ever to complete, and you actually end up with an end product!

The second kit is also a great one for beginners, but I introduce a few new stitiches. So it is a good kit for someone who is keen to learn new skills ~ it is a Make It scrubby kit. The best thing about these kits is that you can take what you learn and build upon it. With these crochet skills you can then make a blanket, or a bag, it's up to you.

And my last kit (but don't worry, I have a few more ideas for kits that I will share with you next month) is my mamonth Sunflower Cot Blanket Kit. This has been a labour of love for me, I am so proud of the blanket, and being able to share it in a kit form, well I can't believe that I finally achieved it and it is out in the world. The best thing too is that because the kit is quiet expensive (lots of yarn balls were used in the creation of the blanket) I have also released the digital pattern, so you can just buy the pattern and then build upon the blanket in your own time.

Ahh and how can I forget my sunflower Crochet along blanket kit, we are now up to Box 5 which is available for purchase.

And I have been working on a secret project, that you are the first to hear about... a baby and toddler bucket hat. Here is the prototype.. I have been working on a few different designs. I have to work out the best ones to make so that I can create them without worrying that my wrist is going to break off!

Well I guess that is all for now... if you have made it this far through the blog, you are amazing, thank you.

For being such amazing supporters of my little shop/space please except a $10 discount off any orders over $30 from now (September 14th) to the 30th. Use the code Spring 10 As always please message me if you have any concerns or questions

Melissa
