Hello, do you celebrate Valentines?
Me not so much, hubby and I have been together for a very looooong time and we are more about saving money then spending it on cute gifts. However I do remember one Valentines day in particular when the kids were very little. Hubby was on night shift and I greeted him as he returned home at dawn with a baby in arms and a toddler who was very pleased with herself at being up so early. He presented me with a white paper bag of red frogs (lollies) and told me how he saw them at the work canteen and thought of me. "Happy Valentines Babe" he said. Sleep deprived and very emotional, I burst into tears. I couldn't recall the day, let alone realise the date was Valentines Day! A bag of lollies = love :)
Anyhoo, I might not celebrate Valentines but I do love the crochet heart. You know when you find a great pattern and it just works with all yarn types? Here are 3 of my favourite makes using the best crochet heart pattern.
NO. 1/ The Chunky Heart. Using Hue and Me Lionbrand Yarn, a size 10 crochet hook and a little bit of stuffing, these quickly make up.

NO.2 / with the same pattern, but changing the yarn to 4ply and a size 2 crochet hook you can make these beautiful little earrings. A little bit more fiddly (for my ailing hands anyway) but they can be quickly made up and make such a unique, thoughtful gift.

No. 3/ And now with another change of yarn, 8ply and a size 4 hook, I created these little pocket hugs. These particular hugs were made for teacher gifts, but you could create any saying on a card and add them to a beautiful heart.

Now what is this amazing heart pattern you ask? You will find the brilliant pattern and tutorial created by the very talented Laura from TinyAmigurumi It is a very easy pattern to follow and if you become stuck, the video tutorial is very helpful. I had always though these 3D hearts were beyond my skill level, but with this pattern I was amazed at how quick they crocheted up. But I must warn you, they are very addictive!
Now if you are interested in heart patterns that are not so quick, I would like to share with you three of the items that I have made with the beloved heart.
My gorgous great Niece ~ Harper My love heart baby blanket Upclose of my heart romper
At the moment I do not have any patterns available for these items, but if you are interested in a pattern please let me know.
Hope you have a crafty week, I'm now off to find some red frogs.
