A little life update

Do you ever leave things up to fate/ the universe?

Although I used to feel the need to have control over everything, life has taught me that no matter what you think, feel or want, life happens anyway. The good, the bad and the ugly. There is no such thing as control.

For a little while now I have found myself thinking “What if…” or as the lovely Marnie from Indigobay (who sends out the most thought provoking emails) says “Wouldn’t it be cool if…..”

and I must say, I really like this kind of thinking, challenging myself, allowing myself to be ok with change.

Dreams, I have always had dreams and one of my life long dreams is to live by the beach. You see the beach is my happy place, my instant relief, my grounding place. It has always been the dream. An unrealistic big dream.

As a result of this dreaming we holiday near the beach. A lot. One of our favourite things to do is to explore all the areas on the coast. Recently on one of these trips we revisited a beautiful little seaside town. It had been a few years since we had visitied and we were captivated by it. We started to talk about what a great place this would be to live. (This is not unusual we tend to daydream out loud when we find a beautiful place).

However on returning home I was a bit surprised when we kept returning to the conversation of this little seaside town. The conversation had also changed, we started to talk about the practicalities of actually living there and before we knew it, we had hatched a plan. We wanted a sea change, to move to the beach. But it was not simple, you see we had another dream, we wanted to design and build our dream 'forever home'. Tweleve years ago we did that, and now we were contemplating leaving it.

But all the while we kept saying "Wouldn't it be cool if..."

So we decided to leave it up to fate/the universe.

Over the past few weeks I have sorted, donated, dusted and donated some more and at last our ‘forever home’ is going on the market.

Our ‘forever home’
Our ‘forever home’

Will I miss our 'forever home'? My gosh of course I will. We put our heart and our soul into this home.

Will I miss the space and the trees and being surrounded by the bush? Of course I will, the bush setting has taught me so very much about nature, it is a joy to sit, watch and listen to the birds.

Will I miss my coffee van that I thought I would have until I retired? Of course I will, creating a little community where people come to chat and enjoy the bushland has been soothing and so therapeutic to my soul.

Will I miss the house that is so full of family memories of the past 10 years? Of course I will, this home has been everything that we wanted. A beautiful space where we have lived a big life of family struggles, grief, dramas but more so of love and laughter. A special time before the children grew their own wings. (At the risk of sounding corny)

It has taken a lot of work

BUT

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could walk for 5 minutes and be at the beach

Wouldn’t it be cool if we wanted to go on holidays and we could just pack and go

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could go to sleep and listen to the waves

Wouldn’t it be cool if we wanted to spend the day fishing/reading on the beach

Wouldn’t it be cool if we had cooler weather and sea breezes

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could experience life in a different way

Wouldn’t it be cool to just see what happens?

What about you? Do you like to leave things to fate/the universe? I would love to know.

Just reply to this email and lets talk,

Kindly always,

Melissa
