Hello,
How are you?
I hope that you are well. With Mother’s Day just around the corner I thought that I would share with you some handmade Mother’s Day gift ideas. If like me, you struggle with Mother’s Day, I like to be very gentle with myself.
One gentle way to care for yourself is to do something creative.
I always have a special crochet or knitting project in my hands on Mother’s Day as a way to soothe my heart and keep my mind and hands busy. Making for yourself is just as important as making and gifting for others.

If you are new to crochet, the perfect way to start is with a granny square. My video tutorials show you how to create each step slowly. You can find the tutorial here.
Face Scrubbies
Face scrubbies are a useful beautiful gift. Best of all, they are a great way to use up your yarn stash. You can find two different patterns here and here. If you are looking for a gift bag for your scrubbies you can find it here.
Crochet Book Covers
Lovers of books will love the choice of my Sunflower Book Cover or if you love super chunky makes, the Daisy Book Cover is for you. Remember these book covers can be used for journals, note books and Kindles too.
A beautiful year long gift is always special ~ for yourself or a gift to someone special. Make up your own project bag using either your yarn stash or buy some beautiful yarn of yummy colours and print off my Slow Granny Square Blanket Project information. By creating just 5 granny squares a week, by this time next year you will have created a beautiful big blanket made with love. In itself, this would become a beautiful gift for yourself or someone you love.
And don’t forget, if you want some pretty project tags for all of your beautiful projects you can find them here.
However you spend Mother’s Day weekend, I hope you find a little time to make something just for yourself. You deserve it
Melissa
