So, this is 51.
One year on from when it all started to fall apart. Turning 51 I guess this is the time of year for reflection. It also happens to be my birthday month. Last week I turned 51. I am shocked, I don't feel 51 most days. (Some days my body and brain do feel like I'm 65, but I won't dwell on that). I remember vividly my mum turning 50 and at the time I thought 50 was so ollllllllld. The photo above is me trying to capture the dolphins in the water just as I was about to go for a s

Free Crochet Face Scrubbies, pattern + tutorial
It is getting to that time of year again when we are thinking about gifting. And what better kind of gifting is handmade, made with love? I thought today I would share with you the granny square face scrubbie as it is great for beginners, and it is a great way to use up some of your smaller yarn stash. Make a few of these face scrubbies, tie them with string, pop them into a little calico bag ~ you will have created the most thoughtful gift. Or if you are up to the challenge

Free pattern + good things
Week 43 searching for pipis Hello, How are you? I am well. Today feels like the first day since the move that things are ‘normal’. My husband is back at work after a 2 week holiday. So it has been back to business (and some house cleaning, just to keep things real). This last week has been spent like we were on holidays; walking, eating, riding, swimming 'pipping' and fishing. We have also realised that our now favourite swimming spot is frequently visited by dolphins. I feel

Crochet Granny Square free pattern!
Hello! Today marks 11 years since I taught myself how to crochet. It took me quiet a while to lean as I am a very slow learner. Despite completing a Uni Degree in Early Childhood Education, it has only been recently that I have come to realise that I learn best via variety of approaches. For me, visual photos, tutorials and written techniques that I can flip between is the best way for me to learn and support my learning style. Since this realisation I have ensured that my pa

Free Pattern + Caramello Slice
Week 42 Hello How are you? How was your weekend? I had a lovely weekend, yesterday we celebrated my husband's birthday. My heart was full for the few hours that both my children were here for lunch. I made a family favourite for desert, Caramello Slice. It is my favourite too as it is super quick to make and yummy. You can find the recipe here; Caramello Slice And I am so excited to share with you that I have finally written up my first free crochet pattern. The pattern is fo

Super Quick Caramello Slice
If you are looking for a yummy, super quick slice for morning tea or if you have a bbq coming up, I have the perfect slice for you. I first found this slice in the 4 Ingredient Cookbooks. Do you remember them? These books were a god send for me when the kids were little and I was not a confident cook. 20 years on, I would consider myself a better cook ! Anyhoo all you need is 4 ingredients and a microwave. And a bowl and a spoon also helps and a slice tray (I line mine with b

Free Christmas Gift Bag Pattern ~ perfect for gifting little treasures
Free Gift Bag Pattern, perfect for Christmas gifting My daughter asked me to create a dice bag for her. As it has been along time since she asked me to make her anything, I jumped at the chance. As I was creating the bag I thought these bags would be perfect for little Christmas gift bags. My other thought was, these bags would be great for using up all my scrap yarns. So here it goes. Please let me know if you notice any mistakes. I am human, and just like AI, I can and do m

The big move + too much yarn ?!
Week 41 Hello, how are you? Me, I am good! It has been a big week moving, cleaning and organising the new house but we have done it! 🙌🏼 It never fails to amaze me at how big a job it is to move. As I did the packing & cleaning of the house on my own, I ended up injuring my arms and fingers. But it’s ok, not to the extent of the beginning of the year. I have laid off the crocheting and knitting this week. But I’m eager to get back into it. I am convinced that I will become a

Another life update
Hello, its me! Hello, it has been a while. I thought I would jump back onto the blog and give a little life update. This blog space is a lot quieter, and a little less 'in your face' compared to the socials at the moment. I like it better and have decided to spend more time over here, I do hope you will join me. So... we sold the house! Oh the emotions! My menopausal self has been riding all the emotions; happiness and excitement one minute, sadness and disbelieve the next, a

The sunflower knitwear collection, for baby + toddlers
My love of the sunflower granny square was great. When I saw it for the first time it hit me it the gut. (this is where I have learnt that I need to listen. When I get that feeling, it is visceral). I began to think of how I could add this beautiful little flower square to the baby rompers that I was currently making. Once I had worked that out, I began to think of other designs that could be made with this humble little square. I wondered would mums and dads dress their chil
